Black History Month

The theme of Gloucester County’s 2014 Black History month is “ Education of African Americans in Gloucester County and Virginia At Large, during the 19th and 20th Century”.  An extensive exhibit and DVD  are currently on display at the County’s Historic Museum. The central focus is on The Rosenwald Schools, of which seven were constructed in the County. The last one standing is the Woodville school located on route 17, Ordinary. A discussion of the considerable efforts that are underway to preserve and restore the Woodville school is also a part of the overall display.
