June 2021 Newsletter

Dear Friends of the Woodville School,

Welcome to the Inaugural Edition of the Woodville School Newsletter. Each monthly newsletter will include a Black History Quiz because at the Woodville School we believe that Black History is important every month of the year, not just February!

This past month we bid farewell to our President, Ranel Johnson. Randy, and his wife Carla, have moved out of the area to be closer to their children. We will miss Randy and wish him the very best. Wes Wilson, the Foundation’s Executive Director, will take on the role of Acting President.

The Woodville Rosenwald School Foundation is very pleased to sponsor this year’s Juneteenth Celebration, along with the Gloucester Union Relief Association, Circle Up Mid-Pen and the First United Baptist Church. The Celebration will be at the First United Baptist Church, 6188 George Washington Memorial Highway, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase and Three Rivers Health District will have vaccines available beginning at 5:00 p.m. for anyone over the age of 12.
Under the leadership of Board Member Bobby Ray, members of the Epsilon Eta Chapter of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority have begun compiling contact information for descendants of the Woodville School and other Rosenwald Schools. If you or anyone you know is part of the Woodville or Rosenwald descendant community, please contact us.

Are you a history buff? Click on the link to take the first Woodville Black History Quiz. You will learn something new and interesting! Click here for the Quiz. Looking forward to seeing you at the Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday!
