On Monday, December 2nd, Dr. Wesley Wilson, Dr. Dorothy Cooke, Dr. Leola Travis, and Ms. Linda Evans took a road trip to Rappahannock County to tour The Scrabble School. The Scrabble School is considered to be the “signature” restored Rosenwald School. In 2002, the Scrabble School Preservation Foundation was formed. In 2008, renovation and restoration of the School began, and in 2009, The Scrabble School reopened as the Rappahannock Senior and Heritage Center. Ms. Darcy Canton, Director of the Senior Center graciously gave us a tour of the facility as well as providing us with a delicious lunch. We would like to thank her and all of the seniors for their generosity and making us feel at home.
